"I wanted to give this a better rating. I had booked 2 rooms for the first 2 nights of our stay-1 room sleeps 6, the other sleeps 4-and continued the stay another 2 nights in the room for 4 occupants.
The good:
The room was clean with no signs of bedbugs or anything. It was quiet and relaxing. The springs were great and the boat tour was interesting. They have great ice cream & a bar. We enjoyed playing chess at one of their large table sets.
The bad:
The main issue was with bath towels. There were only 3 towels in the room for 6 people and only 2 in the room for 4. We were told there were no towels left when we asked for more. I am puzzled how you can have a room that should sleep a specific amount of occupants without having enough towels to accommodate everyone. I can understand not having that many towels in the room at the beginning of a stay, but there should have been enough readily available for each person should they be maxing out the room capacity. This was a recurring theme each night. The first night, the woman at the desk gave us the last few clean towels they had. The 3rd night, the man at the desk told us he’d bring us towels in “20 minutes” but he never came. The following morning we put the “please service” sign on our door and then spent the entire day at a beach. When we returned around 4:30pm, the room was still not serviced. Then we were told-again-by the desk staff that there were no towels! Unbelievable! We did eventually get them, but it was an ordeal."
"During my road-trip planning, I found the Old Carrabelle Hotel and was immediately intrigued by its old nostalgic charm. When I arrived, the hotel was easy to find and parking was right in front. It was a self check in process (so check your email upon arrival for instructions). It's an old bed and breakfast in so you are assigned a room and room key (I was in the Hemingway room). My room was very cute with a welcome bag of toiletries on the bed and coffeemaker/supplies to make coffee without leaving your room. The attached private bathroom was large. Bed and linenss were so comfy and there were ample towels provided. The room doesn't have a TV but Wi-Fi is great. There's a wrap around porch (with a porch swing) on the second floor for sitting outside and enjoying the scenery. Also on-site was a community kitchen for all guests to use and store things in the fridge/freezer. Then there's a covered outdoor area with seating and also a patio area with cafe seating. I absolutely loved the old Florida decor and nostalgic (yet updated) decor and ample amenities of this inn. Carrabelle is a small town but there are several restaurants within walking distance - I had dinner at the Fisherman's wife (fresh caught flounder with hush puppies and corn nuggets was delicious). I highly tecommmed staying here if your trip takes you through Carrabelle FL! I wish I could have stayed longer!"
"My husband and I used to stay here all the time when we had to come through for work. This last experience WILL BE the last. The bathroom smelled entirely of urine. We had to run down to the closest store and buy cleaning products to get rid of the odor. We also bought blankets bc there are visible stains on the top cover, if you can call it that. The tv barely functions, it’s on the dimmest setting which you cannot adjust. You also can’t add subtitles. There was a huge cockroach crawling on the side wall of the room that we had to kill. I understand a bug once in a while when you are in or near woods, but with everything else, the whole stay was just gross."
"Extremely clean rooms, comfortable bed, superb customer service. This is my go-to hotel whenever we have no air conditioner or electricity at home due to storms, hurricanes, etc. Very quiet as well. I got an excellent night's sleep."
