「Staff lovely. Bed comfy, sheets and towels clean. The room was ok but the shower room was full of black mould. In the room damp by the window. Really cold despite having a plug in heater. Expedia sold this as a stay with breakfast included, which it was not All in all disappointed. We have received a partial refund 」

「Room was clean and refurbished but let down by the bathroom The toilet was badly located and toiletries insufficient ( particularly as there was nowhere to shower in spa) due to no changing rooms being available Parts of the hotel have been refurbished and are lovely although often just superficial but the other parts are very tired and and unloved. Spa - the areas which were available were very good and clean but again doors were lacking in cleanliness and if you look closer corners are...

「Clean room, lovely bar, nice range of drinks. Nice sunday dinner, great atmosphere, log fire bar. Breakfast was the usual cereals etc, bacon, toast, sausage was Richmond (not my preferred). Nice fresh croissants and goot drink selection I have stayed before and will stay again due to price, location, lovely romantic stay」

「It’s the perfect stay to stop just off the M6 when driving from Scotland to England. It’s a beautifully decorated pub, with lovely staff and excellent breakfast and dinner. This time our ferry was cancelled from Mull and so we had to change the booking at the last moment. They were understanding and there was no problem rolling over the booking until we could get off the island. We will be forever loyal to this wonderful stop just south of Penrith. 」

「Lovey nice clean hotel. Breakfast is excellent and we had an evening meal also which was very good . Nice garden at the back to sit and have a drink in full sun. Room was nice and clean lovely and warm and a shower and nice bath for a soak after a long walk. Couple of pubs across the road and a nice walk to a waterfall. 」

「It was our second stay at the Victorian and it won’t be our last. The room we had was very spacious and most definitely ‘dog friendly’. Our bed was comfortable and the breakfast experience was very pleasant with good quality food. Staff were very attentive and helped enhance our stay.」

「It's in a remote location which is nice if you want to get away from it all. Good value. The sat navigation took us down a very potholed road but the road on the other side was in better condition so just something to be aware of. Characterful hotel, particularly the foyer. The breakfast was ok, very filling. Service was a bit chaotic with no plates when we arrived so had to wait. Rooms were nice and clean. Staff were welcoming. The games room has seen better days. 」

「We really enjoyed our stay at the Royal Oak. The room was basic, but clean and adequate. The bed was comfortable. We ate dinner there as well and it was delicious. The breakfast was good. My husband got the full English and I got scrambled eggs and bacon. The scrambled eggs seemed to be the rehydrated kind, but otherwise the meal was good. We would stay here again. 」
