"We really enjoyed our weekend away, hotel in a great position & outlook. Lovely that it has the restaurant & pub on site but a short walk down the hill to further shops, pubs, restaurants etc. We chose it for the local walks which were great. A member of staff moved there car for us as the car park was full which I thought was very nice. We found all the staff were friendly. We chose a cosy double room, it was cosy & shower was small, just a corner shower so when we go back next year I’m going to book a bigger room & hopefully get one with a bath that would be nice to soak my tired legs."

"Dry Dock Cottage has a modern, clean interior, is very well furnished with all you need for a very comfortable stay, a nice property, however, be aware that the two flights of stairs to the bedrooms are steep and narrow and as with most of Whitby parking is at a premium, the closest we could get was a 20 minute walk away"

"The location of the cottage is excellent, right next to the river Esk and on a very quiet holiday park (in April anyway). There is an amazing viaduct over the river where there is bungy jumping every couple of weeks during the summer and you can walk over it into Whitby which is only 30 mins away on foot. The pool is NOT 24 hrs as advertised and you have to pay. The property can be a bit difficult to find because the name plaque of the plot is covered by an overgrown hydrangea. If you use what 3 words it's starred.surprises.bleach. One major issue with the property is the shower, which is over the bath and under a sloping roof. If you're over 5ft 6ins it's difficult to stand up properly. Also, the screen cannot be moved out of the way and getting out of the end of the bath when it is wet and soapy if very slippery. I wished I had taken a rubber bath mat as I felt very vulnerable getting out in case I slipped over. However, this did not spoil our holiday as there are so many lovely places to visit nearby, beit either picturesque beaches or stunning moorland villages."
