"Carl and Elma were fantastic hosts ... again, having stayed here in same room 3 years earlier. The three rooms on street level where you park with a common lobby room, with a day room for those who need to stow stuff on a checkout day, There is a great breakfast and coffee on the upper floor large balcony overlooking a naturalized area with wild pigs, cows, chickens, tree frogs, birds, and a wonderful view of the ocean. It is a unique place to stay in Hawaii and in an area that we find most interesting near the snorkeling sites and restaurants of Captain Cook. Good value."

"Kellie was truly welcoming and accommodating, giving us a tour around the place when we arrived. Such a lovely and unique stay, and it was an added bonus that we were able to go foraging for fresh macadamia nuts in the yard! Truly like paradise. "I did not realise that we were staying in a plantation village, with multiple accommodation. I had made a request for two beds and, as it was a slow time of year, we got two bedrooms. Pahala is a very cute town (and currently the only one with a grocery store as the one in Naalehu was no longer as at 28 Jan 25). The people were also really friendly. The only thing to consider is the roosters. If you want to sleep in - close the windows. We didn't, as the black sand beach was all ours at sunrise, then came back to Pahala for coffee at the Ka'u Coffee Mill. "
