"Being so close to the station was ideal as we travelled by train. The hotel was clean and seemed to be newly refurbished. There was an ace Indian called Shaha just a couple of walk away. The wetherspoons round the corner called Wiiliam Rufus was also clean and friendly."

"We stayed at Armathwaite Hall for one night and it was superb. The staff were all so friendly and helpful and little touches made our stay very memorable such as a glass of prosecco on arrival and a card and some chocolates in my room for my birthday. We stayed in a Club room which was very spacious. We ate in the dining room which was pricey but the food was exquisite so worth the money. We also made full use of the spa facilities which are just heavenly and very relaxing. I would thoroughly recommend Armathwaite Hall to anyone even if only for a one night birthday treat. Superb! "

"Room had no view ( unless you like brick walls ). Breakfast was great. Lots of pubs, shops, takeaways etc nearby. Would return, but as they now charge for parking this is extremely unlikely. "
