Loved it!
Ocean, books, coffee, comfortable bed, fire place..all that was missing was a cat to snuggle.
A new favorite stop to unwind! No tv in the rooms..perfect!
An amazing hotel! The rooms and lobby are so cozy! The view and location are incredible!! And will be returning. I booked again literally while having coffee and watching the waves. I fell in love!
If you love literature, this is a dream hotel. Between the quiet writing spaces --both in-room and in the common areas --the ocean views, and the easy access to long shoreline walks, it was an ideal place to focus. I’m looking forward to my next stay.
Fantastic! The hotel is an experience hotel based on literary authors that were part of the scene back in the 1800’s and onward. Incredible spaces: check out library on top floor. Fantastic restaurant. Right on the ocean with incredible view and patio with fireplace. Walk to the coolest section of Newport is — well it really isn’t a walk, the hotel is in this very cool area of town’s coastal historic area.
Alex checked us in very quickly and gave us some great local recommendations for placed to eat. Also took time to personally show us to our room and provided some great information on the history of this unique hotel. Couldn’t be happier with the place, highly recommend to anyone wishing to stay in the area.
Enchanting property. Note that breakfast is not free however the restaurant was excellent. Delicious food, breathtaking views, and a captivating timeline of Sylvia Beach's life with photographs and postcards. The room was charmingly decorated and the bed was exceptionally comfortable.
Great quaint hotel. Very comfy beds and very clean. Great coffee in the morning. Incredible deck staring at the ocean. Didn’t get to try the breakfast. No television, which was great.
I wish I would have known there were no televisions in the rooms and the whole a beautiful property the bed was very uncomfortable. A box spring could have helped with that I think. After not sleeping all night we left at 6am
Hotel has been completely updated and location is great, along with the views. Staff was very friendly and the common space is lovely. Especially loved the outdoor fire place. Only negative was low ceilings, my husband is tall and uneven floors led to stumbling into the bed frame in the middle of the night that left a nasty bruise.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
The view from the cafe lounge was amazing! The room was clean and had lots of great books for us to read. If we would stay again, we would want to bring a small fan to help break some of the noise from folks walking around in the room above, but otherwise it was peaceful and comfortable. One other mention: The shower seat in our accessible suite was installed up against the water temperature control and the soap dispensers, so we were not able to use it. I don't think any of those were reasons to rate lower, but some folks might want to know about them. The experience was worth more to us than any minor difficulties we encountered.
I thought we hit the jackpot with this place. Stunning views located right in Nye Beach. In theory, I love the idea of this hotel-The writers getaway. The hotel itself was charming, decorated very, well. There were small areas to spend reading and watching the waves. The facility itself was very clean, newly updated.
The only good thing about this place – is the bed and the bedding. Very comfortable.
Now onto the reality of staying here.
1. The room is way too small, especially for two people. 12 x 10. There’s no soundproofing, the sink is right in the room itself. The walls are very thin, and you can hear your neighbors moving around.
2. No TV, no fridge, no closet, no dresser, no place to put any of your things.
3. The shower has no water pressure! I didn’t even try and wash my hair, even though I really wanted
to.
4. No ice machine, but the hotel provides little Ziploc bags of ice, which isn’t very efficient.
5. my biggest pet peeve, coffee was supposed to be ready at 7 AM. There was no one downstairs, no coffee. Finally at 7:30 got some coffee. Worst coffee I’ve ever had, and I’ve spent the last two days drinking gas station coffee. The person who checked us in yesterday was very nice and friendly, the gentleman here today seemed very grumpy and did not want to be here.
bottom line – this is like a beautiful coat postcard. In reality it’s more like a theatre stage, just for show.
