My girlfriend and I were trying to go to New York for a concert. We booked this trip knowing there was a “no refund policy”, our plane tickets were that as well. Roughly 12 hr before our flight it was canceled due to weather based transportation advisories. Our airline and both of us personally attempted to rebook any flight that would get us there on the day of the concert, there were no flights. My “non-refundable” airline ticket was refunded to me due to the fact it was something out of anyone’s control, the weather. It was not safe to travel. If we in fact were able to rebook a new flight, we would have. The fact that planes were not flighting to New York is out of my control. I don’t expect a refund for us unexpectedly changing our plans, or if our concert would have been postponed and set another date. But to not get an exception and given a refund for a weather based flight cancelation is appalling and unacceptable. I bet if the manager who made this ultimate decision, according to the Expedia support team, was in a similar position, he/she wouldn’t be appreciative of treatment, such as this
