Lighthouse Inn

"Our Lighthouse Inn experience was okay. The rooms were a little dated but at least they were clean and extremely spacious. We had a fridge, microwave, dining table, and chairs. The Lighthouse Inn also has wifi, Netflix options, and apparently the ability to do your laundry (although we didn't use the service). The inn is located right across the street from the Pacific Ocean and a short and beautiful drive to Jedidiah Smith Redwoods. The only drawbacks we experienced were the parking and breakfast. We arrived in the evening and, due to construction in the rear, there were no parking spots for us. We eventually had to just park near a bush which wasn't ideal for loading and unloading our car. Then there was the lackluster continental breakfast. I guess, it's better than nothing but the breakfast was essentially coffee, breads, oatmeal packets, apples or oranges."

"While I was a little nervous upon seeing the exterior of this place I was very pleased when I went into my room. It had been recently remodeled and was quite nice. Checkin was a bit strange over a computer in the lobby but the staff I met was quite nice. Having a beach right next door made for a lovely evening though there were some homeless people living back in the grasses, they didn't bother me at all."

"We had a very enjoyable stay. The room was a large ADA room with ocean-front view, a balcony, a large bathroom that had a roll-in shower, small kitchenette, full-size refrigerator, and was very clean. The staff was very friendly and one very friendly maid even gave us recommendations on where to eat. Each place she recommended served great food. We really enjoyed the salmon dinner and clam chowder at the Lucky 7 casino, which was one of her recommendations. We had a very restfull time there and the sunsets each night (3) we stayed there were amazing.. We recommend this place to anyone. The only downside was the soft low bed which made it hard for my disabled husband to get out of. We will stay there again. Thank you to all the staff for making this an incredible stay for us."

"The problem, and for me it was a major problem, was that when we entered the room it reeked of a perfumed spray. I immediately had trouble breathing, and my chest hurt badly. We opened both windows and the door all the way for close to a half hour, and I kept walking outside to breathe so my chest didn't hurt. I don't have asthma...it was horrible. I went to the office and told the clerk. She just shrugged. No hotel type place should poison the air like that. If the room had a problem it should have been closed off for the night. The room was so nice it's such a shame that this happened. The manager needs to address this issue before someone with a chronic breathing condition is a victim of the crazy spraying"

"Very close to the Pacific and the crashing of waves was very calming to my wife (she loves that). The salt air has taken a bit of a toll on the buildings but overall it was nice."
