I booked a room in the Masquerade Tower for one night, but checked out within an hour of stepping foot in the room! I never event sat down as the furnishings were old and dirty. The check-in process was slow, no early check-ins available and the front desk line was long. The kiosk was OK as long as you are willing to figure out the system on your own, or with the help of fellow travelers. The room is another story. It was the dirtiest hotel (motel?) room I have ever booked, and immediately made reservations elsewhere. Beyond the look of the room was an unidentifiable scent when we entered the room. I shared photos of the stained carpet, stained couch cushions, random hairs in the bed, odd stain on curtain, cigaretter burns in carpet, mildew/mold stains in the shower, I can go on and on. The bathroom floor was so sticky that our shoes stuck to it; I have video of this - if only I could share. I understand the rooms in this building have not been renovated, but that does not excuse the dirty conditions of the room and furnishings. Even the exterior windows were dirty- so much for a view! Getting help at the front desk was so difficult that we checked out at the kiosk and went to a different hotel for the night. I did my best talk to someone at the front desk but was told that management was not doing any room changes and there were no upgraded (renovated) rooms available if I wanted to pay more for a room. Masquerade Tower rooms have yet to be remodeled like the other tower. Which I knew going in. Didn’t bother me too much. Will be much nicer after the remodel. I wish they had more dining options.

Hotel is trying to make a comeback by lowering the price of a room in the Masquerade tower. The room itself was fine. Very large and in need of updating, but served our purpose of staying one night on a road trip. The hardest part was trying to navigate the elevator and check in. We parked in the Masquerade parking garage where I wrongly assumed that we were to go to the 1st floor. No, you need to go to the 4th floor to check in at the kiosk. We returned to the car for our bags only to find that we needed to start on the casino area to use the elevator to our room. The elevators were very slow with only two of the four working. Unsupervised kids crowded ahead of everyone to pack an already crowded space. The wait up was 10 minutes and the wait down was just as long. We chose to eat at the “Food court” which was fine. I had a burrito bowl and my husband had Roman noodle soup.

The Rio was a great hotel to stay in Vegas! The room was very clean and we felt safe there. Pool and amenities were great. About a 20-25 minute walk to the strip, but I definitely recommend for an affordable stay in Vegas.
