"We booked 4 nights at La Mariposa Hotel, but after staying only 1 night, we decided to leave because we were very disappointed with the hotel, the room condition (hair in the bathroom, no hot water and full of insects), and the overall maintenance. We tried several times to contact the hotel and explain our concerns, hoping they would at least try to help or compensate us for the 3 nights we didn’t stay, but nobody really handled our complaints properly. The staff and management were rude, dismissive, and not helpful at all. During one of the conversations, we were even told that they “know everybody in Costa Rica” and that we wouldn’t be able to find another hotel room, which made the situation feel very uncomfortable and unprofessional. Very disappointing experience overall."

"The hotel is beautiful. Located at the edge of the rainforest near next to the Manuel Antonio park. You wake up to howling monkey calls and the sounds of nature. Everyone on staff was extremely polite and helpful. Their hot breakfast buffet is amazing. I highly recommend it. "

I like nature and that’s one of the reasons that I chose this place, it’s nestles in a variety of beautiful plants and trees with lots of quiet outdoor spaces to sit and relax in nature. "The staff were excellent and the food was delicious. We enjoyed our stay very much. The view of the ocean was fabulous from our room and also from the dining area. Travelers should not be discouraged by the incline and stairs - a courtesy golfcart ride is readily available. On top of this - monkey and iguana visits were a daily event!"

"This is a 5 star resort with 5 star staff that work there. The only thing negative is the fact that it’s a bit isolated so it’s not easy to walk into the “town” of Manuel Antonio. They have overcome most of that with scheduled shuttle vans to the public beaches. And the drivers are very kind and accommodating regarding the drop off locations and time frames. The food for breakfast was exceptional as was the food at the restaurants on site. Well done!"
