Hotel Universel

2/10 Terrible

"This is one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. It was disgusting, old and everything was broken. The pool was under construction although I can't say I would have gone in it, based on how dirty everything else was. They had clearly tried to update at some point, but had just painted over everything and not bothered to take anything off the walls when they did so you can see paint splashes over everything. The flooring and tiles were broken everywhere, even my tub was cracked. The shower curtain had clearly been pulled down before me and instead of fixing it properly, they just jammed it back in the same broken hole and put in bigger screws so there was just a broken mess and the curtain rod hanging at an odd angle. Thankfully, I only had to stay there for about 12 hours and I could run away. UGH don't ever stay here."

"I was extremely pleased with my stay at Jaro Palais Royale. Excellent location. Walking distance to the old city. Lots of shops & restaurants near by. The service was exceptional. All requests were promptly handled. There was live music in the pool area 2 nights that we stayed. A added bonus. Very talented performers. I would gladly stay again & would highly recommend staying there."

"The hotel was very crowded with what appeared to be large tour groups, congesting the lobby and the ingress/egress through the drive through to the main entrance. There was no help from the front door staff to move traffic along or assist incoming guests with the door. Unfortunately, we were never able to experience the beautiful bar. It was always too full according to the host. But on Saturday night we did see empty tables inside. We had one negative experience when we returned from an evening out to find our room less clean than we left it after service by the evening cleaning staff. All that being said, this is a lovely hotel in a charming city. If you have an option, pick your stay in an "off season.""

"Hôtel fait pour les familles!! De la piscine au jeux d'eau. Des modules de jeux au jeux gonflables. Des mascottes aux spectacles. C'est ce que nous recherchions pour notre escapades avec nos enfants de 5 et 3 ans. Ils ont trippés! Le personnel est super accueillant, les services sont rapides, l'hôtel est super propre. Sincèrement je conseille à 100%"

"Hotel is beautiful. Staff were great. Room was spacious & comfortable, with a light up mirror above sink. Hot breakfast & many choices was delicious. Coffee always available in a machine with many selections. Hot tub so nice to relax in at the end of the day. Hotel is in Old Quebec, across from a park & the St. Lawrence River & boardwalk. Walking distance to great restaurants & shopping. Walking distance to all site seeing."

"Great location. Everybody so helpful and friendly. We had our AC go out in the evening--and within 30 mins the front desk sent somebody up and moved us to a different room. Stayed for a total of 6 nites. Had the executive lounge which had awesome breakfast plus a really nice happy hour. Everything was spotless. Everybody was great. Will be back again someday."
