The COVID-19 outbreak has changed how we travel, but it hasn't shut down our zest for exploring. Here are a few tips on how to deal with the new challenges of traveling:

• Find out if any travel restrictions apply to your destination and origin before locking in a flight. Also check if there are any requirements you'll need to follow on arrival, such as installing a contact tracing app.
• Keep your face mask on during airport screening. A TSA employee will ask you to temporarily lower your mask to verify your identity.
• Instead of handing a TSA employee your boarding pass, place it directly on the scanner yourself. When that's done, hold it up for inspection.
• TSA is now permitting passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on bags. This will need to be removed from your bag for screening.
• Empty your personal items from your pocket, like your small change and phone, and place them in your carry-on rather than the bins. This will minimize handling during screening.
• Transport all food items in a clear plastic bag and also put them in a screening bin. Separating food from your carry-on means it's less likely a TSA agent will need to open your bag for inspection.
