"This hotel is an absolutely beautiful location of Kyoto and in walking distance of Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Yasaka Shrine, Pontocho Alley, and the rest of Gion. The property is beautifully kept and clean in a minimalist, Japanese fashion. The rooms (or at least mine) was small but welcoming and met all needs. The staff is friendly and helpful. There were some occasional language barriers, but we are truly the guests in this hotel and country and it was an overall wonderful experience."

"I wish they put as much effort into the rooms as the lobby, the lobby is beautiful. The floors were a bit dirty and the walls. The staff wasn’t too helpful, great location for some things like Niju castle and Fushimi Inari. Overall lobby 5 stars, rooms three stars, staff three to four depending on who you ask."

"Great stay in Kyoto! The staff was also excellent in helping resolve issues with luggage delivery. This hotel is absolutely gorgeous and the rooms are large."

"The first room we had was dirty so they quickly changed us to a clean room. They are militant about taking your shoes off here, we loved the free dessert bar, but overall the hotel was absolutely packed with tourists and kind of crazy. The staff, however, went above and beyond to take care of every need we had. The rooms are small for us Americans but the bed was comfortable. "

"Super comfortable western style beds and pillows. Rooms are small but beautifully designed. The breakfast is as great with lots of international choices. Close to gorgeous Japanese gardens."

"Great property and well kept grounds. The onsen was fantastic. Welcome drink and breakfast were nice touches. They set up a baby crib and baby bedding and blanket for us, which was perfect. Only draw back is the location is a 10-15 minute walk to train station and restaurant area. They also did not have room for us for dinner in the hotel lobby "

"The room is clean. One of the windows is operable, I can have some fresh air. Close by the train station. The shuttle bus service ends after 8 pm, I would need to take a taxi. "
