I arrived late at night and discovered the room had no blinds, the light then disturbing my much needed sleep. The next day I changed rooms, but neither of the rooms were the more glamorous circular windowed rooms presented on the website. The coffee machines in each room didnt work and were replaced by others that didnt work, very disappointing over a 5 night stay. I booked the Hilton for it's high quality but it didnt live up to expectations.

The hotel was very clean and beautiful. The staff at the desk was extremely pleasant and helpful. All the employees we encountered were friendly and made us feel welcome.

The walls in this hotel are paper thin. We were up half the night because we could hear the people in the room next to us talking & laughing. Called the desk multiple times during the night & they said they’d ask them to be quiet, every time I called & said I can still hear them, man at the desk got noticeably more and more annoyed with me. It was so loud that I originally thought it was people hanging out in the hallway but the man at the desk said security went up there & no one was in the hall. I can’t believe I could hear them that loud if they were in their room. They weren’t even like shouting or playing music, just talking loudly & laughing, sounded like they were maybe a little drunk having fun but not insanely rowdy. I just can’t believe how much we could hear them. It was like they were in our bathroom. I eventually gave up & complained at check out the next morning. Woman at the desk said that is a common complaint & there was nothing she could do to reimburse me since I booked through Expedia. I paid for an extra nice hotel for a relaxing evening away from the kids but would have gotten more sleep if I had stayed home. I’ve never been able to hear people in the room next to me like that in a hotel. Otherwise the hotel is really beautiful & comfortable. If we had quiet neighbors my experience would have been excellent, but they need to add more soundproofing.

Breakfast on site was a great amenity. The bartenders Lexi, Harrison and, Katie were kind and accomodated my every need. Overall this has been a great stay and I will totally recommend this place to friends and family that might ever end up in downtown Kalamazoo.

Stay at the Hilton
It was nice but some of the lights in the room wasn't working. I thought there were room services for ordering breakfast but there wasn't. This is why I select the Hilton, but other then this. I was able to get a good night sleep and felt secure. Thank you!

What a refreshing stay for nye! We were in town for a concert at the state theatre. Brought or dog and she loved the room as well! So clean and accommodating, staff was wonderful as well

Unnecessary upcharge
Clean, nice, check in was easy. No complaints about the room or atmosphere. Breakfast was edible, but i wouldn't hand paid extra for it if id have had the option. Also, the hotel charged me $20 for parking at the ramp. The ramp only charged $15. So they upcharged me $5. Which seemed really unnecessary.

I didn’t like the parking situation. Guests need to park in the parking garage across the street. They do not offer valet parking. Not being familiar with the area, and traveling alone, it was a little concerning.

Disappointing
My "Deluxe" room was on the 6th floor in a corner of the building. It had 5 windows that were about 3 feet tall and 8 inches wide. I've seen wider windows in jail cells. If you look at the exterior picture of this hotel, you can see them just under the building's cornice. Then there was the chirping fire alarm. When I complained, they told me to push the middle button to silence it. That works great...for about 4 hours then it starts up again. When I asked if I could get a 9 volt battery to fix it myself, I was told that maintenance wasn't available until Monday. Both night's sleep interrupted by a chirping fire alarm. Lastly, Downtown Kalamazoo is trying to refresh its downtown but this hotel is apparently beyond that radius. Pretty sketchy area.
