This beach just south of Kuta is known as a quiet alternative to the bustling tourist hub. Jimbaran Beach is a secluded fishing village where fishermen still sell their catch at the market and brightly coloured wooden boats dot the bay. The safe swimming waters attract families while the restaurants and bars along the waterfront are good for a night out.
Early risers should make it to the beach by dawn to see hundreds of fishermen come ashore dragging their catch of the day. Follow the fishermen to the market, where the produce is cleaned and sold.
Restaurants along the beach cook up the morning’s catch come dinner time, and both tourists and locals from around Bali flock here to enjoy the fresh seafood. The affordable feasts come with a starter, side dishes and fruit salad and the fish is served by weight. Sink your feet into the sand and listen to live music as the sun sets on another day in paradise.
Nearby Kelan Beach is a short walk away and worth a visit for its beautiful views and sightseeing opportunities. Look back across Jimbaran Bay and over the water then explore the traditional temples here. Adventurous travellers can go abseiling or rock climbing or play a round of paintball at the Jimbaran Hills Activity Valley. If relaxing is more your style, drink a cocktail at a beachside restaurant.
Jimbaran Beach is a narrow stretch of land between Kuta and the Bukit Peninsula. The village offers mainly luxury resorts and mid-range hotels, with few budget accommodation options. It’s a popular spot for families and groups who come to stay in private villas perched above the bay. Reach the village easily by taxi and car from the Ngurah Rai International Airport. Once here, explore the area on foot. You’ll find little more than a main road and a sandy beach in this idyllic getaway.
