A wonderful place to unwind and relax during our Japan vacation. The private onsen and terrace was the highlight of our trip and the service was second to none. Worth the splurge, definitely do not hesitate to book here!

Staying at this ryokan was the highlight of a 2-week trip to Japan. The staff were stunning and remarkable in their attentiveness to every single detail. We had a little trouble getting there as it required a long bus ride up the mountain and then we took a wrong turn on foot and got lost (but that was our fault). When we arrived, the staff were waiting and came running to us to assist us with our luggage and provide a smooth transition into the tranquility of their "home." We had the same nakai-san throughout our stay. She tended to our every need from breakfast through dinners that extended into the late evenings. She was gracious in every way and made us feel comfortable. The food was the best we had throughout our tour of the country. We had a private onsen that could have been a little cleaner, but the public bath was wonderful on both gender's sides. The rooms were spacious, clean, and stocked with every amenity we could ask for. We opted for full body massages which were sadly not good at all, but that was the only aspect of our stay that was anything short of stellar. We will definitely go back when we return to Japan. If you're staying in Hakone, I can't imagine finding a better or more wonderful accommodation!

Amazing experience for couples. Great rooms with private hot spring and nice view overlooking the mountain range. Exquisite omakase experience with seasonal menu prepared by the head chef. The ryokan had every little detail thought out from when you first step in through to your departure.

This was an amazing experience, from first walking up and being greeted with tea or coffee. Then being escorted to our room and the amenities provided made us feel incredible. Ultimately this hotel provided us an tranquil escape and treated us fantastically.

I had a wonderful stay at Gora Hanaougi. It's set in a beautiful, private location in the mountains. The staff was extremely welcoming and kind. The private onsen in the room overlooking the mountains was incredible and the meals were delicious. I definitely recommend staying here if you're looking for a peaceful, relaxing escape!

Wonderful, ***personalized*** hospitality begins right when you step out of their Gora station shuttle. Excellent multi course dinner and breakfast. Lower floors have a large patio space with a private onsen. Plan on checking in at 3pm to really enjoy a full experience.

24 rooms total, tucked away on a quiet rode but just a elevator away to Souzan station. Our room 211 was huge. With sitting room, family room, bedroom and little area to admire the view.

Wonderful stay..
This was a definite highlight. Warm, calm, attentive service, beautiful surroundings and the luxury of your own private “Onsen as well as a lovely public one. Dining options were a special treat but be hungry - the food is plentiful. Location to train, busses, ropeway and the hotels own shuttle is a big plus. Would happily recommend as a worthy indulgence and would like to make it back again sometime.

The staff is super friendly, they offer a staff that will serve you throughout your stay including serving you meal. Our room is superb and its clean. The view from our room is spectacular. Overall superb experience.
The hotel reached out to me few weeks before the arrival to ask for dietary preference and allergy which is a plus. At the day of arrival, the staff have already anticipated our arrival. Smooth check in process and staff were polite and courteous. Hotel shown as depicted on the website. The only downside of private open onsen is the bugs but this is really beyond control of the hotel. My girlfriend and I enjoyed the private onsen more than the public onsen because of the magnificent view. The breakfast and dinner were good, portion is adequate for a 5ft 9in 165lbs guy but probably not enough if you were a big guy. The waitress tried her best to explain each dishes on the menu with English. No big issue communicating with the staff overall. Would definitely return. Highly recommended.

Amazing meals and service. Private onsen on balcony is great for couples. Japanese-style room and turn down service were great. Slightly farther away from Gora Station than most, but free shuttle is convenient.

A perfect Ryokan to experience onsen and kaiseki. The staff is incredibly warm and welcoming. The rooms are spacious with private onsens. The public onsen is large with multiple indoor and outdoor pools. The food is PHENOMENAL. Would recommend 10/10.

The service is unmatched here. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a Ryokan to book here. The staff is incredible and our traditional Japanese style room with a private onsen had the most incredible view of the mountains. Waking up to the 5:30am sunrise over the mountains coming naturally in through our window was the top highlight of our entire two week trip around Japan.

Hakone Honeymooners
Such a phenomenal hotel/ryokan. We had a blissful night at Gora Hanaougi for our honeymoon. We booked a room with a private onsen on the balcony. We set our alarms and watched the sunrise in the morning. It was very peaceful. The location is perfect at the end of the Hakone Ropeway in Gora. They have a private elevator that takes you right to the ropeway station! The staff were very kind and made us feel very welcome. The food... oh my goodness, the food! The dinner was extravagant and beautiful. We had a private "room" with a large, low table, but the area under the table was sunken so you could sit normally and enjoy the meal. Breakfast was served in the same place and was amazing too. We will be back anytime we are in Japan!

Amazing experience. Everything was immaculate and top notch - from check in, rooms, cleanliness, onsens, food, and check out process. They provide traditional clothing to wear onsite. No shoes are worn inside the hotel. The staff was so attentive and hospitable. Food was traditional and what you’d expect from a high end ryokan. In-room onsen can accommodate 2 adults and is 100% private. Gora Hanaougi is incredibly quiet - the only noise you’ll hear is the noise you make!

Traditional experience, in a beautiful setting with extraordinary service. Had a memorable experience at the Gora Hanaougi where we felt welcome as guests in this spectacular Japanese environment. the Staff went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable from the check-in to waving us goodbye as our taxi drove away. Meals were an event, and full of a variety of traditional dishes of fish, beef and vegetables. The onsen in our room, overlooking the mountains will be in our memories forever.

Very calm and peaceful experience. Amazing 12 course dinner included in private room. Fabulous bedroom with private onsen on the balcony with stunning views. Phenomenal staff and service.
