It was a very cool experience to stay the night in a castle and explore the grounds around the castle. I found trails just over the foot bridge that lead all the way into town. It was the most beautiful trail walk I have taken in a long long time. Stunning!

A beautiful, historic castle outside Edinburgh. Room was very nice--bed comfortable, bathroom clean and roomy enough. Restaurant in the basement is a "must do." Steaks are cooked over a wood fire. Food was superb. Only negative was that I learned if you don't book directly with Melville Castle then breakfast is not included. I used a Expedia to book, so no breakfast included, which didn't seem right given the room prices. Overall a great experience. My wife and I would like to return sometime.

The entire family absolutely loved staying in the castle! If you're going to Edinburgh, stay here. Leave your car here and get a cab in. (no Uber in the area but just call a black cab). The staff was extremely kind & helpful. Our room was a dream, with a huge staircase up to the master bed loft. Very comfortable and clean with great amenities and there's nothing like waking up in a castle and looking out the huge windows to horses in the pasture beyond. Food in the bar was great. I hope I get to return here someday!

Great place to stay and would again. Old castle, so you have the historical vibes of the place. Had restraunt on site, only hade breakfast here and was good. Have onsite-bar and outside seating to enjoy the grounds. On outskirts of city, so very quiet, vast grounds to walk. Had a lift for luggage movement. Staff was great, location quiet. Had the two-bedroom suite and like it very much. (only issue were the carpets had some burn marks). But room was large and had a little room for coffee and tea. on-site open parking. Great place and recommend.

This property is a lovely restored manor house in a bucolic setting on the edge of Edinburgh. All were as expected and the level of service was very good. The food was very good, and service attentive and accurate. The front desk was accessible, accommodating and very helpful. The Bar was great fun.
