「Booked a valley castle room w king bed for one night in late Sep. Room was very clean with comfy n up to date decor. Room was big enough and soundproof quality was good. Big garden surrounded hotel n we took a pleasant walk the next day. Should have stayed for one or two nights so as to enjoy swimming pool and other facilities. The historical building was well maintained. Very pleasant stay 」

「Met by overwhelming smell of air freshener which was clearly meant to cover up something possibly fresh paint. Made it a bit difficult to sleep normally. Then shower collapsed into itself but too late in evening to get fixed. Could not shower in the morning and receptionist not remotely interested when we informed him. No hint of recompense for not having a basic requirement of any hotel. Unbelievably disappointing experience」

「Comfortable beds and an acceptable breakfast, but with little choice. The hotel was very run down, the bedroom window was badly rotten, and the bathroom was in great need of a refurbishment. The 'luxury toiletries' that were promised on the website consisted of one bottle of an unbranded liquid hand wash. This property is part of the Richardson Hotel Group and I would not use any of their hotels again!」

「Lovely hotel by the sea We stayed at the Langstone Cliff hotel before a concert at Powderham castle. We arrived early afternoon and decided to have lunch on the terrace overlooking the sea. Lunch was lovely and the drinks were cold. Having parasol’s kept us cool on a very hot day. Our room was lovely, quite small but had everything we needed and the air con was an added bonus.
