「The owner, Claudia, was amazing. So helpful and kind. Parking in back was much appreciated, breakfast was freshly made, delicious and served in one of the beautifully decorated common areas. The room was comfortable and clean. The mansion is pre Civil War and furnished accordingly with antiques. If you're looking for modern hotel amenities you will be disappointed, but if you're looking for charm, warmth and a gracious host, you will love Ragland Mansion. Pet friendly as a welcome bonus!」

「Jeffrey was the best host. This is a beautiful property which is obviously lovingly maintained. The building is so pretty and has multiple sitting areas outside of your room (which was also great). I have dietary restrictions and Jeffrey and others made sure to have snacks for me to enjoy during the wonderful nightly happy hours and delicious options for breakfast. This area was also fun to explore and Jeffrey gave us very good pointers on where to go.」

「One word- cockroach. I went to bed around 11:00PM, and I looked up at the ceiling to a bug I had never seen before. I texted my daughter a pic and asked her what it was. It was a cockroach. She said VA was known to have a problem with them. I stood on the bed and banged a book against it, and it fell. I took another picture, to make sure I had identified it. 「A new building designed in the style of colonial era homes. Larry and Patricia were terrific hosts. Breakfast was made to order and amazing, including biscuits made according to Larry’s grandmother’s recipe. Comfy bed, plush towels. The dimmer switches for the lights are a great touch. Plenty of parking, nice large backyard with tons of birds. Remote location so it’s nice and quiet. Absolutely would stay here again! 」
