"The location is about as good as it gets in Hampshire. Stunning setting. The hotel is very comfortable, tastefully decorated and the rooms, although a little small, were absolutely fine for our needs. If we were being picky, the shower tray filled up with water but it may have been because there’s an optional power switch which we discovered is probably best left off. The staff were very polite, smart, helpful and welcoming. Wendy, on reception, was exceptional. She changed our restaurant booking and helped us when we needed it. There is ample parking, walks, the museum and shop and stunning views of the river. Highly recommended!"

"Our second visit to the hotel and Monty's bar and once again it was extremely good. the staff are very helpful and we can't wait to go back again next year. we chose it because of the location but everything was great. it is an old building with no lift so disabled visitors may find the stairs a challenge but the staff were so helpful with the luggage we managed."

"Lovely stay! Very friendly and helpful staff with lovely gardens and breakfast room.. Fab atmosphere! The room was clean and well presented although the toiletry dispensers kept jamming. Fans were provided but were very noisy… it was during the heatwave. Would definitely stay again as the location was great and the hotel car park was close and free!"

"Martin and Elizabeth were fantastic hosts. Very welcoming to my children and I. Breakfast was excellent and the family room was a good size and with all the amenities you’d expect. Location so good, only a 3-4 minute walk to Hythe Pier and pier train and there are a good selection of shops, cafes etc also."
