"The staff at the hotel was so so lovely and very helpful. We were racing at Oulton Park and it was a hot weekend and they always filled my water bottle with lots of ice so I could stay cool. The restaurant had good food. For a very simple hotel I was very impressed with the staff and also how clean the room was. It's definitely not a super fancy hotel but for a quick drive to the track it's great."

"the hotel has recently changed hands and so is in somewhat a state of flux and thus in need of improvement. Likewise the buildings are in need of repair. My room was clean and tidy, though without air conditioning on one of the hottest days of the year took some time to cool down to allow sleep. I wasn't prepared with a costume in order to enjoy the pool. The barman was helpful and chatty and the abbot ale was welcome. It was, for the price paid, perfectly reasonable value for money. "Liked the garden, but it needs a little C&A... Disabled car parking near to our room (No.5) was an excellent bonus. Breakfast was excellent but a bit expensive. Staff were all very courtious and helpful. Direct booking rather than via an agency is preferred. We will certainly be recomending the Lion to our friends and relations and using you again next time we are in the area. The only down sude was the loss of my credidit card - was is handed in to you?? Dennis Cole"

"Accommodation is fine. Breakfast menu is a selection of fried, unhealthy or coated in butter. Needs to be better to compete with other local providers"
