"Overall, a pleasant stay in a modest, nicely-equipped self-catering apartment with good communication and information from the owner. Conveniently close to the Beppu station and main shops in a quiet street. The layout of the apartment is a little unusual, but not a problem. However, there is a 30cm-high step between the living/bedroom area and the kitchen/bathroom area, and this would definitely be a problem for anyone with mobility issues."

"To begin with I requested 2 towels for each guest as we were staying two nights. I was told that they would be provided although normally each guest is only provided 1 towel and that they expected a "good" review for doing so. Next we were told that check in was at 4 and check out was before 10 although it clearly states check out is at 10:00 am. Loud live music played from a next door club from 6:00 PM until 12:00 AM. "We didn’t know what to expect but were very happy with our stay at the Rex. It’s very clean, modern, great design and has an excellent indoor/outdoor onsen up on the top floor with an amazing ocean view. We loved that you had to take your shoes off at the entrance of the large and lovely lobby floor and go to our room in slippers. And there are also great public onsen nearby. Parking was included and there was a lot of parking spots very close to the entrance."

"We stayed Sora tradition western style, room is spacious, clean, and provides good amenities - like best face soap & moisturizer face creams, top of line hair dryer, Yukata, indoor & out door slippers, toothbrush with paste. I don’t have to pack anything. They provide for you. Only thing missing was body lotion. The indoor hot springs (in room) temperature was perfect, but outside terrace one was extremely hot, so hard to enjoyable. The Japanese style meals, the dinner and breakfast we select was 8/10. All great, but the soup wasn’t my favorite, however others might like it. In my opinion, the coffee wasn’t that great, but good selection of teas. I can’t complain the staff’s service. Top notch, they will make your stay comfortable, everyone so politely kind. So, my staying at here was best experience. Another plus things was next to Hell of Beppu and has great city view. "

"We booked a tower room on 8th Floor with private hot spring in the room. The room size is like an apartment that has a living, western bedroom, kitchenette, tatami, bathroom and ocean view balcony. The bath area also has shower and open air hot spring tub that Springs from natural source. Tub is large enough for 4 persons and it offers a view of the ocean bay. Staff service are excellent courteous and very helpful and can speak English as well. Room is meticulously clean, spotless, thoughfully and artfully designed. We selected breakfast and kaiseki dinner. Breakfast are delicious buffet style with western and Japanese dishes. Kaiseki meals are such an experience. The presentation of each dish is so pretty. We found sashimi fish dish on certain selections like sea bream, horse mackerel fish very tough and chewy although we are sashimi lovers and quite familiar in this end. We wish there were more varieties of other seafood like crab or scallops or uni in the sashimi. The wagyu beef in the Shabu shabu and sukiyaki are excellent grade. It melts in your mouth. With a room in the tower booking, we were offerd lounge club access with beer wine beverages and appetizers in the afternoon and are night. Overall, the experience surpasses what we expected. It was a pleasant stay and we will surely come back."
