We reserved and pre-paid for a high-floor king room. At check-in, I was told that, as a Marriott gold elite member, I would be receiving an upgrade to a better room. Instead, we were given a second floor handicapped room that faced into the parking garage. The bathroom literally didn't have doors and the accessible shower sprayed water all over the bathroom.
The front desk clerk told me that their upper king rooms had terrible views and so I wouldn't be giving anything up to stay in the downgraded room. Seems more likely that they didn't actually have the type of room I reserved and paid for, gave me a worse room, and tried to pass it off as an upgrade. Not sure why I'd return based on this experience.
