The area is typically busy in the daytime during weekdays, but is relatively quieter than other areas like Providencia and Bellavista at other times. Not a ton of restaurants nearby that open late, so better to find a place in the other barrios to eat before returning to the hotel at night. "The area around the hotel was safe , plenty of things to see and do near civic center. The staff was very helpful and courteous at all times Andres help us arrange our tours and everything was excellent."

"The rooms were very cozy and the cleanliness and good location of the hotel are amazing for the price that you pay. The people at the front desk were super welcoming and eager to help with anything that I might have needed. There was free breakfast in the morning and also a station to get coffee and tea, and they held onto my luggage for me the day I checked out so I could continue to explore the city. Amazing hotel!"

"Merced 88 was a great hostel. Excellent service from staff, place was clean with great showers. Has large wooden lockers in rooms that you provide your own lock for (I'd imagine you have some on your luggage. Plenty of space in dorm rooms. Conveniently located near a subway station so you can catch the Metro to the hostel from the airport (well you take the public bus to the nearest metro station first, but a lot cheaper than catching a taxi). "The surrounding area of the property was very quiet and I felt safe walking during the night to the restaurants located close to the hotel. The room was perfect for my needs, it has a private bathroom. A subway station and bus stops are at walking distance from the hostel. "
