"We came to Zen and Pine Resort to hike Mt. Yushan. Although that wasn’t possible due to road closure, on the manager’s advice, we instead visited nearby Sun Moon Lake and hiked Mt. Shuishe, which was amazing and rescued our whole trip. I can’t say enough good things about the management of this property. "The rooms were extremely clean and housekeeping did an incredible job daily. The breakfast is good when compared to US Holiday Inn Express. The location is within walking distance to the Taiwan Rail Chiayi station not to be confused with high speed rail (not in proper city limits). It’s about a 20 min walk (~1 mile) to the Wenhua Road night market and pretty flat but in most smaller cities sidewalks are non-existent."

"The thermal spas are amazing. Although the outdoor one for us was closed for the two days for cleaning. Overall the hotel outside of the thermal spas is very dated and not the cleanest. we had some holes in linen and it was all a bit grimy. The staff were lovely and the food was great. "
