Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast buffet and dinner buffet. Very nice and comfortable room (though the caulking in parts of the bathroom could be redone—slightly moldy). Excellent location in the heart of the forest recreation area. I would recommend, and would stay here again.

Had an excellent stay in November 2026 where I was able to see the famous Alishan "Cloud Sea". Meals at the hotel were excellent, and staying overnight in the Alishan Recreation Forest gave me lots of opportunities to explore the different trails and enjoy the cool mountain air. The hotel staff were very friendly and hospitable; special shoutout to one of the restaurant staff who was very helpful and provided useful advice about the hiking trails in the area, and allowed me to more easily find the trail for the Shuishan Giant Tree, an amazing sight. This was an unforgettable first time in Alishan, and if I visit again, will 100% stay at the Alishan Hotel. Google Translate: 十一月在阿里山酒店度過了一段美好的時光，期間我欣賞到了著名的阿里山「雲海」。 飯店的餐點非常美味，而且住在阿里山休閒森林裡，讓我有很多機會探索不同的步道，呼吸清涼的山間空氣。 飯店員工非常友善熱情；特別要感謝楊淑淨女士，她非常樂於助人，為我提供了許多關於附近徒步路線的實用建議，還幫我輕鬆找到了通往水山巨樹的步道，那裡景色令人嘆為觀止。 這是我第一次來阿里山，至今難忘。如果以後有機會再來，我一定會再入住阿里山酒店。

Amazing Access to Trails, but Rooms Need Updating

The hotel was conveniently located in Alishan, close to the hikes, trails, and viewpoints, which made it easy to enjoy the sights. However, the hotel is quite old, and the rooms were simple and somewhat dated. The bathrooms weren’t the cleanest, but again, it’s really about the location. The breakfast and dinner buffets were excellent, though I’d recommend limiting the stay to a weekend.

The hotel has a great location inside the National Forest, with major trails right outside the front door. That is a big plus compared to other options requiring a shuttle bus ride in and out of the park. But we found the hotel significantly over-priced even with this ‘big plus’ of location. Our room was in the older part of the hotel - a traditional Japanese style room. The room was quite small and cramped with few surfaces for our belongings. The bathroom was also very small. An update is needed. The meal plan was very nice - all meals in the main dining room with a buffet. The food was very good and plentiful. Overall we enjoyed our stay but felt the price tag was too much.

I took the family (wife and three teenage children) and we stayed for 2 nights in single room with 2 king size beds. Overall it was a very comfortable stay and both the buffet breakfast and dinner were nice. The shuttle bus to the train station in the morning made it easier to travel to see the sunrise, and with the hotel located in the centre of the park, it was close to all the main walks. The hotel appeared a bit outdated, even though we were in the modern building. One disadvtange was the bath room was open style and it would have been nice to put a door or blinds. Apart from that, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Alishan. As an aside, the hotel organise a private taxi to pick us up from Chiayi to Alishan Hotel, and then from the Alishan hotel to our next destination in Tainan. The driver was excellent and very knowledgeable of the Alishan area, with many good recommendations.

Conveniently located and comfortable rooms. Alishan is beautiful and very walkable from this hotel. However, given high cost of stay, front desk could be more accommodating to international travelers in explaining that there is no direct transportation from outside the park to the hotel and other important information.

Cosy hotel.

Amazing! An obscure shophouse like inn but full of character and good vibes. Hana is so pleasant and helpful, giving us so much information about where to visit and good restaurants. It is walking distance to the boat pier where the sun moon lake is.
