"This simple motel is fine for an inexpensive stay in SF. It's clean, nice bed, good location with shops & restaurants nearby (esp the vegan Rad Radish!), and front desk is responsive. Just know it's simple. Room is small, coffee maker is cheap, small fridge and microwave, heat/ac is low or high or off without a thermostat, no closet and limited counter/desk space. Good place to sleep, but not hang."
"The only difference between my room at YOTEL and a much pricier one is square footage. But who needs it? It had amenities to make me feel pampered, thoughtful layout, high-end fixtures, double shades, comfortable bed. The room was super clean and quiet. The hotel location was within 5 minutes of the places I was going and access to public transportation was practically at the front door. Every staff member was helpful and friendly. The building itself is historic and got through the earthquakes of 1906 and 1989 damage-free due to the 2.5-foot-thick walls, not a bad safety feature. My thanks to the people who conceived, designed, built, and maintain the YOTEL notion."
"Wifi strong signal, hair dryer, heater works. There is a fan for summer. There is a microwave, a refrigerator, a TV. Shampoo & soap are provided. Daily housekeeping available. Everything is as promised. Linens are clean, there's no spot. All the basic stuffs are available.
No laundry.
As for the area, The16th street, west side of Valencia is good. I ride Bus 22, dropped at half block away with no problem.
Valencia itself is a busy street with lots of nice store and restaurants. There are bum 1 or 2, but it is safe, I walked at 9 pm & it was fine. My favorite eatery is Sunflower, an authentic & cheap Vietnamese cafe, very delicious.
The not so good area is the east side of Valencia, on 16th street, Union Street & the Bart station itself.
But on the day time I can walk from the hotel to that trendy Dandelion chocolate factory.
Don't forget to bring your credit card (or $100 cash) for damage deposit."
