Great little stop. Go down access road and when you see the park buildings straight ahead, take the left turn and park own there. Black sand beach, fun but very rough surf break in this narrow cove. Great to OBSERVE. Don't leave kids playing in this, please. Cave to the right... haha please just check the tide level in there. Walk across the small beach to the left and there is a trail along the cliffside to the point where the cover meets the ocean. BE CAREFUL. Best NOT to be in flip-flops here. water shoes / tevas are GREAT for here and many places in Maui. The waves splash up on that point like a blowhole. Fun. BE CAREFUL W YOUR SELFIES. Keep kids away from cliff edges. Don't do stupid things please. Very fun spot. Unique as heck. There is a similar hike to the right side point as well. bathroom at this place exists, is sort of primitive, might want to have your own toilet paper with you here, and for other stops w restrooms along road to hana. There is a good footwash thing outside the bathrooms for all that black sand you have accumulated. 2 of them actually.

Plan on swimming here on your road to Hana trip. Black sand beach is amazing sot.  Not worth getting wet and changing for the springs associated with the water falls along the way. Outdoor shower and bathroom available at park for easy cloth changing after beach.

Beautiful location, somewhat treacherous drive - too many tourist with massive jeeps going too fast on very narrow wet roads

Bring water shoes! the sand is a bit rocky.

You can’t fly a drone but this place is so beautiful that I recommended anyone to spend more time on it.
