"While the hotel itself is very nice, it was difficult and in the end unpleasant as the staff was either unable or indifferent to responding to our requests. Four times in one day I had to ask for housekeeping and two days in a row to correct an over charge of a hotel room despite the fact that I had paid for the rooms in advance."

"This is the best hotel for the price and location to the basketball and baseball venue. Plenty of restaurants to choose from and they are all great. The staff was so friendly and I’ll definitely be back."

"We were triple charged the first night. No help from desk staff. Also we moved the 7 dollar waters (not far) just out of the way. Not opened at all. Only moved. Front desk said she could not refund non opened smart waters. Nice staff in lounge but very very much ripped off on price of room and we were forced by our minor daughters robotics competition to HAVE to stay at this hotel to be allowed to compete. Felt very deceived by price changes as well as not being told to not move or touch water. Price of room should have not went up especially since they are partnered with the FIRST robotics competition and require guests to stay at example this hotel. Just deceived and paid over 800* for 1 night in a king room."

"Friendly and helpful staff, subtle musty smell everywhere, dated room with electrical fixtures falling out of the wall, and plumbing fixtures (toilet manly) not working properly. Great restaurant on the first floor. Drunk crowds in elevators going to/from the rooftop bar in the evening."

"Let me start with praise for Ms. Maria who was working the front desk when I arrived a couple of hours before check-in time. My plan had been to store my bag at the hotel, find a coffee spot nearby and hole up there until 4 p.m. On this stormy Friday afternoon, though, without my even asking, Ms. Maria eagerly and cheerfully found me a room where I could dry off, relax and clean up earlier than I’d planned before the event I had traveled to see. Her sincere welcome set the tone for an enjoyable weekend that allowed me to explore a city new to me, enjoy some delightful restaurants and reheat the leftovers in a well-equipped kitchen. That kitchen even included an electric teakettle, a lovely amenity so rare in hotels that I routinely carry a portable one on trips out of town. The property was one of several converted industrial/retail/corporate buildings throughout downtown. It met my requirements for solo travel: privacy, quiet, sturdy construction, a comfortable bed, and an utter lack of pretense. (Nothing irks this traveler more than a lodging that promotes itself as “elegant” or “luxurious” and is, in reality, shoddy, gaudy or subpar.) Also, the location was ideal for exploring downtown and connecting with multiple public transit options. Although I went to Houston for a marvelous performance by a longtime favorite artist, I returned home thinking about an eventual return visit."
