「The staff were lovely and the food was great. We were upgraded to a superior room, which was wonderful and clean but the room was far too hot because it was next to the main working fireplace of the hotel. We had to have the window open the whole time to cool down, (but didn’t make too much difference in temperature) and then smoke from the chimney came into the room.」

「The hotel is looking a little tired now and could do with redecorating. We arrived a little early for check in, but reception was unmanned. We waited about 15 minutes and pressed the buzzer 3 times but no one materialised. The room was cleaned well apart from a glass being smashed in the bathroom, when we got back there were still several shards of glass on the floor which were dangerous in a bathroom. The hotel’s location is excellent and close to restaurants and shops.」

「Meeting up with lots of my relatives was great. Yes, the room was clean, but the kettle was not working for my early morning cup of tea (I didn't use it the previous evening)! The staff were efficient, sympathetic and friendly, but were unable to get a replacement kettle to me. Also, when I booked, I did say that I needed a gluten-free diet but the biscuits in the room were not gluten-free!
