The host was very responsive and when an issue occured she arranged alternative accomodations for a night.
Her apartment is like walking back in time 100 years with antique furnishings and 13' high ceilings. Veruly comfortable and easy walking distance to attractions and restaurants.
We really enjoyed our stay. The host Rosi is very friendly and helpful. The building itself is full of history and characters. Our room is at the lower ground floor which has its own entrance. The room is large, clean and comfortable. The facilities in the room is prefect. The location is very central and close to every attraction. It is so easy to get there from the airport by the airport shuttle bus. We would definitely recommend this place in Palermo!!
Stayed for 3 nights with a family of 6, including 4 children under age 10. We basically had two separate bedrooms - my wife and I slept in one with the baby in the provided crib and the 3 older children all had single beds in the other room with the kitchen. Both rooms had a full bath. Table and chairs, small refrigerator, hot water kettle, cooktop, sink, and tableware all included. Only complaint is could have used a microwave.
The place was nothing fancy but was comfortable. The really great thing about this place was the nearly perfect central location. Everything we wanted to visit in the center of the city was within about a 15 minute walk. But despite the central location, this place was tucked away, well back from the street, so it was actually very peaceful and quiet - perfect for a family with small kids. No problem sleeping at night or during nap time during the day. Overall recommended for families with small kids.
Unique property from the fourteen hundreds, we never imagine been able to stay at a place with so much history and meet Rossy the owner, very helpful and always available to answer our questions. If you are a history enthusiast you will love this place, tons of restaurants and bars to choose from.
We stayed 4 nights. Our host Rosi was so sweet and speaks good English. We had the very large bottom level apartment which is 3 open rooms plus a washroom and separate entrance. Very homey. Decorated with antiques. 10-15 min walk to the train station. Walkable to everything in the historic area. Recommend!
I had a wonderful experience at this place, in this home. Because it is more home than hotel. I had two rooms, a living room type room with kitchen , table and sofa and then the bedroom and two bathrooms as well. The house itself is in a fifteenth century building and you enter from the Cartari arch which is very beautiful. The furniture is antique but everything is also very modern, clean and and comfortable.
But the lady, the owner is so wonderful, so very very kind. I can't wait to come back here one day it really made me happy staying here!
Ai cartari si trova in pieno centro storico e si raggiungono tutti i punti di maggior interesse a piedi. La struttura è molto antica ed ha il suo fascino. La signora che ci ha ospitati è cordiale e disponibile.
We had 2 rooms here. Both were really spacious, clean, very charming. It is a good location for walking to markets and other sights but the neighborhood was not great, though we felt safe in our small group. Parking is a mess, get instructions or figure it out before you arrive. I would use the train next time because driving is just nuts, worse than Florence
If you would like to feel like you are part of Palermo's medieval past (in the best way possible) choose one of Ai Cartari's two extremely atmospheric rooms. The location is also very convenient for walking around the old town.
The interior of the B & B is absolutely beautiful. The room has a large sitting room besides a nice bedroom. The owner lives there and breakfast is served in a gorgeous living/dining room in her home. The breakfast was good, but mainly sweet, no cheese, meat or eggs. Parking in Palmero is very difficult, traffic is horrendous, and to follow directions and find street signs is next to impossible. GPS is absolutely necessary and even with it, it's a nightmare. Personally, I would avoid Palermo at all costs but if you must go there Ai Cartari is a great place.
