"The location and surrounding area is beautiful ,meals ere good and public rooms were very comfortable and well presented. The main issue and disappointment was that the area was a live building site as construction works were still being carried out on the Spa area, Construction traffic ,materials and staff were everywhere and this caused difficulties with parking and Hotel access when driving. "Been here a few times and we love it. The food is delicious, the staff are friendly and the place in general is always clean. The breakfasts are spot on and the bar and rooms are dog friendly. The view over the hills from the Beer Garden is outstanding. There is also multiple different paths for dog walking nearby. There isn't loads to do in the village but if you're looking for peace & quiet, you'll definitely find it here, although Rothbury is just a couple of miles down the road. The only downside is that the Garden Room needs some kind of a canopy to protect the patio from high winds when sitting outside on sunny days. The Garden Room could also do with some blinds to allow light in but to also remain private from people walking around the garden, rather than having to close the blackout curtains. Some outside seating areas are in need of repair and most of them need a new lick of paint/varnish. To reiterate, this place is lovely, just needs a tiny bit more attention to the cosmetic side. I've no doubt if you visit, you won't be disappointed :-)"

"The room was clean. The decor was slightly tired, very little room for clothes, just a thin wardrobe. That said, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom excellent with a wonderful shower. Staff were friendly, helpful and were between them the highlight of our stay. Couldn’t ask for better. The bar served good wine, good beer (although they ran out of handpull) and the food was of a very high standard. To say compliments to the chef is an understatement. The hotel has lovely gardens worth a look round although on our three day visit, we were not allowed to go in them two days due to two weddings and the wedding guests get exclusive use of the gardens. I have to say that I was deflated once we had made a non refundable booking to get a message from the hotel saying there were weddings two out of our three nights but I can happily relate that other than garden access, the weddings were fully contained, did not affect bar or restaurant and we could not hear the music. Sharing with weddings is not an issue with this hotel."

"Lovely modern clean rooms. Our room also had a jacuzzi bath, which was very welcome after long walks! Staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you, checking each day if you needed anything topping up in your room. Breakfasts were excellent and we also made use of the packed up lunch. Would definitely recommend and we hope to return."
