"Staff were excellent. I found that I lost my passport when I was checking in. They helped to call my last hotel, seeked for their help to the room I stayed lastly, and arranged with them to send it back by courier. Thank you very much for their nice help. BTW, the local "taksashi" crab at nearby restaurant is super super oishii!! Must try!!"

"We had a fantastic experience at this traditional Japanese ryokan in Shuzenji Onsen, said to be over 400 years old. Despite its age, the facilities and rooms were spotlessly clean and well maintained. We booked two suites, each with its own private onsen, which was perfect for relaxing. Each suite can fit up to four guests, making it great for families or groups. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive. We accidentally left a cell phone behind, and they quickly arranged to ship it to our next hotel—a level of service we truly appreciated. The property offers one public onsen and one private onsen. The shared spaces are a bit small, and the private onsen is first-come, first-served with no reservation system, which may be inconvenient for some. Since our suites had private baths, this wasn’t an issue for us. A fun highlight: the ryokan has three small self-service cafés with complimentary drinks, popsicles, and ice cream, plus a late-night free ramen bar at 10 PM. Such a unique and enjoyable touch! Meals were excellent. The kaiseki dinner was beautifully prepared, and breakfast offered Western or Japanese options. Their Western-style breakfast tasted better than many we’ve had back home in the US. There is also a charming kimono rental shop next door. We recommend renting here rather than in Kyoto or Tokyo—it's less crowded and offers stunning photo spots with bamboo forests, a riverside bridge, and nearby temples. We highly recommend this ryokan."
