Great for a one night stay, walkable distance from the station and easy to find. Would've been nicer if they had a single double-bed option instead of two twins. Breakfast is japanese style and not continental, lesser options for vegetarians but still good enough.

The room was clean, the staff was friendly, and the beds were comfortable. The hotel was located in close proximity to the Shizuoka train station and city center, which made it a perfect place to stay for a short trip. We were allowed to store our luggage at the hotel before check-in, and the check-in process was easy. The Internet connection was reliable, and the TV had many stations. There are a few signs in English, but toilet buttons, laundry instructions and AC/TV remotes are in Japanese only, and some level of Japanese knowledge is advised.

You can not beat the price. Have coin laundry in the hotel. There is a bench at smoking place. (no other other hotel had bench to sit to smoke). Too many dishes at breakfast. Should offer less choice of dishes to reduce hotel operational cost.

The hotel was actually quite far from the train station comparing to the other hotels. The staff was not helpful either when I told them that my room is full of smoke. I had booked the non-smoking but I could smell it when people in other rooms were smoking. No non-smoking room was available plus they didn’t ask me how they could help. I was waken up by the smell this morning and had headache throughout the day. Absolutely horrible and I will definitely not come back to this Toyoko Inn in Shizuoka.
