"This was a great hotel for an overnight in Nikko. Private bathroom in our room with stocked bathroom amenities, large comfy bed for two with a little table and chairs plus a delish breakfast buffet. After a day of sightseeing we enjoyed the Baths. "
"This is a wonderful property situated along the banks of the Otani River in Nikko. It’s a short ride from either of the two train stations in Nikko, and right across the road from the major cultural attractions of the city.
I selected one of their premium rooms that included a private rotenburo tub that is on the “balcony” that overlooks the flowing river. It was well worth the investment! The room was hugely spacious, well appointed and clean.
The staff was welcoming and extremely gracious from start to finish. The meals (breakfast and dinner are inclusive with the “half board” booking) were outstanding, using seasonal ingredients and renown locally produced items. They are prepared and presented in the classic Japanese style.
The location is incredibly convenient. I was able to walk over to the attractions, spend as much time there without rushing, and come back to the room to rest and refresh. The main road of the city is also an easy walk, and is lined with many quaint shops and restaurants.
The property is friendly for non-Japanese speakers, and who would like to respectfully experience a the charm and tradition of staying at a Japanese “inn”."
"Wonderful place to stay in the Nikko area. This is a small hotel of 15 rooms overlooking lake Chuzenji. You either make a bus from Nikko station or a have a car to drive up the mountain. There are lots of walks to do in this area and the Kegon waterfall is very impressive.
The rooms are spacious and was in the western style. The staff were incredibly friendly and nothing was a hassle. We had breakfast and dinner included which I would recommend. The breakfast had a variety of both western and eastern dishes. The dinners were in the kaiseki style and were fabulous. With beautiful fresh ingredients. They also inquire as to any food allergies and cater the meal to that. Could not ask for a better place to stay. "
"Historic hotel with amazing views and a great location. Would recommend to anyone staying in Nikko. Don’t miss the shrine that’s just 15 minutes away."
"The hotel property is amazing. But don’t like the area. Everything closed around 5:00 pm. There was no restaurant s in the area and shopping, so we have to eat at the hotel. "
"Feels very upmarket from the entrance all the way to the room. The Japanese room I stayed in felt extremely large; like a 5-star hotel in Tokyo. The washbasin area looks modern and is well equipped with amenities, including a face steamer. Separate toilet is large. Bathtub is deep for a good soak with a nice view of the outside.
Parking is limited in front so you need to drive further in or up the slope. May be inconvenient if you are alone with heavy luggage and arriving late. Some of the fixtures also need attention as the mixer switch at the bathtub (room 305) was broken with sharp edges; this can be a risk for children, those with poor eyesight or using it in low light.
I did not use the hot springs as I spend most of the time exploring the area by car.
Highly recommended for couples, lone travellers and small families."
