Discover the delicate beauty of thousands of orchids in one of the most extensive collections in the world.

Nestled in the center of the Singapore Botanic Gardens, the National Orchid Garden is a world leader in orchid hybridization, research and conservation. Since opening in 1995, the National Orchid Garden has exhibited the finest and rarest species of the plant for the people of Singapore. Spend an hour (or several) to see over 60,000 different plants, with over 1,000 species and 2,000 hybrids.

Make your way through the four color zones of the gardens. See cool blues and whites in the winter zone or warm reds and pinks in the summer zone. In addition to their color variations, orchids differ greatly in size and shape, and have unique ways of adapting to their environment. See the paphiopedilum, often called the “Lady’s Slipper” due to its ballet slipper appearance, or the oncidium, the much smaller flower known as “Dancing Ladies.”

As well as being visually spectacular, the National Orchid Garden is an excellent educational experience.  Head to the Visitor Center in the Botanic Garden and sign up for a workshop or tour. The 1.5-hour walking tour of the Orchid Garden is an excellent way to learn about the hybridization process and the ways in which the plants pollinate and thrive in harsh climates.

Visitors to the National Orchid Garden should prepare for particularly humid conditions. Bringing water is highly recommended. A kiosk within the grounds offers refreshments. Visit the gift shop on the way out to pick up orchid-themed souvenirs.

The National Orchid Garden is located within the Singapore Botanic Gardens, in the downtown area of Singapore. The gardens can be easily reached by car, taxi or bus. There is paid parking on site or public parking on Tyersall Avenue. Once at the gardens, the National Orchid Garden can be reached by a short walk. The National Orchid Garden is closed on public holidays and there is a small admission fee for entry.

The park is free during the Christmas month holiday, otherwise it’s only a couple dollars but very worth the price.

You pay $5 dollars each for adults to enter the orchid garden but babies are free. It was a very beautiful place.
