I tried to check in at 3pm and was notified that my room was not ready yet. The reservation desk told me that they would call me to come pick up my key when my room was ready. I waited until 7pm with no phone call, finally went back to the desk to find only one person working out of many available desks, and a line out the door of guests trying to check in. When I finally made contact with the person working, they said my room had been ready and gave the excuse of “being really busy” as to why they never called me. Maybe if they had more than 1 person working, like they did when I tried to check in at 3.
Also, the elevator in the Jamaica building is inoperable, and the toilet in room 408 is broken because it does not fill the back after a flush. I told the front desk, but there was no interest. The doors are all ajar from the weather, which causes guests to have to throw their shoulder into the door to open it going into the room because the frame is swollen and offset from the doors.
Room service does not make the bed, replace towels, sweep sand from tubs or floors, or anything really. They take your trash and that’s about it.
