"Truly wonderful staff, great food, lovely overall ambience. Our mattress was very hard and the bed frame creaked badly which led to disturbed sleep. Breakfast was very good and the bar area and restaurant are lovely places to spend time in."

"We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Great location and staff were all very friendly and helpful. The luggage storage facility was great for both pre and post check in. Will stay again when next in Chester if the price is right"
"A lovely (if too short, 1 night stay). Staff extremely helpful especially catering for my Husband restricted food choices due to recent cancer treatment. The staff went above and beyond to provide him with something he could comfortably eat.
Already planning more than just a one night stay. Lovely room, very interesting watching the planes coming in and going out but without the noise. SO convenient for twilight check-in to make an early morning flight easier. Will certainly go again."
"The breakfast was very good although my wife expected fresh grapefruit and cheese.
Evening meal very good with excellent friendly service, however I had a very funny version of a prawn cocktail.
Car parking excellent.
Hotel very difficult to find but once driven fairly easy to navigate.
Walked into town which was closer than we thought.
Bedrooms small but warm."

8/10 Good
"Good location, but the hotel is very tired and the rooms could do with being painted and refreshed.
Our room room 1308 needed the walls painting. A lot of chipping and general wear and tear.
This room let the hotel down."
"Lovely hotel the best thing was the lovely spacious room with plenty space and nice bar area delicious breakfast and nice leisure centre. Best thing - lovely friendly staff. Professional and friendly - we never felt it was “just a job” they were great."
"Everything was perfect our only complaint was that the skylights need some sort of covering and there wasn’t quite enough food at breakfast. Otherwise it was really good. Thanks"
"Generally our stay at the hotel was good. The location is good, the room was clean and functional and the breakfast was excellent with great service.
The let down for us was that when we returned to the hotel, cold and wet (due to the storm) on the Friday evening we first went to the bar to warm up. I ordered 2 coffees for for my wife and I, but was told the coffee machine had been cleaned and no hot drinks were available, this was at 10.15pm. A supposed 5 star hotel could not supply a coffee? I then asked for a port for us both but was told we don't have any ?? We went straight back to our room.
The good points of the hotel were negated by the attitude of the bar staff who couldn't be bothered to help. Will try another hotel next time we need to stay in Chester."
"Historic hotel, well located in centre of town. Parking available. Decor definitely dated but had the essentials. No elevator, but a rarity in British hotels."
