Bad experience

Great location with beautiful ocean view, but there is a smell of brains that shouldn't be there. When we complained to the manager an older staff member not only interrupted and said he did not accept our disappointment but opened the door and told me to get out! This is the first time I have encountered hotel receptionists who are so rude and arrogant while traveling around. Although the manager dealt with it afterwards, the good memories of the stay were completely ruined.

Absolutely love Wailea Ekolu and have stayed here several times over the past 10 years. Unfortunately on this trip we ended up in a unit that has seen better days and is quite dated and lacking modern technology. The unit is in a wonderful location with an amazing view and spacious lanai and contains all the accessories necessary for a home away from home. However, the big turnoff was when we discovered the condo was infested with roaches, which we needed to dispose of several nights before bed and also sleep with the lights on to try to keep them from coming out at nighttime. We brought this to the attention of the property manager and they advised this is very common for Hawai’i, which I understand, but am still not comfortable dealing with this while I’m trying to relax on vacation. The property managers sent maintenance to put out roach traps and to spray the area, which unfortunately didn’t help much so we just had to deal with it. I believe the property managers were very professional and tried to be as accommodating as possible but in my mind they need to be more proactive about this as guests shouldn’t have to deal with these concerns. We still absolutely love Wailea Ekolu and will be back, but will never stay in this unit again

Nice unit with view, and well appointed. Only minor complaint was about the loud swamp cooler air conditioners for the unit and adjacent units being noisy as they turned on and off all night. All else was great!
