Independent Hartford hotels

"Booked this hotel thru Expedia and got a very good price. It is just around the corner from the Hartford train and bus stations so it's wonderfully convenient. Just a few issues - First, the front door on Asylum Street is locked, with no sign to tell folks to walk around to the side entrance. Second - when we opened the door to our room, we found that IT HAD NOT BEEN CLEANED after the previous guests checked out - bed not made, used towels all over the bathroom (!) The clerk apologized and gave us another room - mistakes are made, but this was so dumb! Third - the bathroom faucets had crud on them (not just tarnish, but some gunk that could have been scrubbed off). Fourth - nice breakfast room, but no packets of half & half for coffee, only those flavored Coffee Mate thingies; there was 2% milk in the fridge for cereal, but this was almost gone; instead of scrambled eggs they had these rubbery egg disks. Despite my 3-star rating, I would still stay at the Capitol because of the convenient location."

"Beds are so high it would be nice if a small still was provided for us older guests who can’t get up onto the mattress!! And regular coffee available would have been nice in the morning - my room only had decaf"

"Check in took forever at 3am even though we reached out at 7pm to pre-key and inform of late check in, maintenance was poor, yellow stains, rotten wood, smelled like sewage and must. Awful."

"This hotel has no idea what hospitality is. Everyone looks at you like you have three heads. It’s co. Extend to an apt bldg btw. Breakfast was added on reservation but it’s not really a breakfast. Snack bar more like it. I’m Hilton honors as well. They did nothing for it. "

"This place was so subpar (floors caving in; peeling; it’s sloppy work; the decor is so ugly). I left the same night. Never again."
