Re Cove Hakone
8/10 Good
"Beautiful hotel though not a lot near by when the weather is poor. Great ambience and scenery."

The Fujiya Hotel
8/10 Good
"Really nice historical hotel that has been maintained well. They offer the onsen experience and opportunity to get massages with their spa, zen treatment. I ordered desert at the tea lounge, unfortunately I didn't make a tea time reservation to experience the British tea. But I got the apple pie a la mode, the ice cream really paired well with it. Then I got the "angel" food cake which is really chocolate with the vanilla ice cream. Everything was delicious but expensive. I'm not sure if it was overpriced. The Picot bakery is an extension of the hotel and share similar deserts. They also had croissants and pain au Chocolat which was good too."

"Beautifully modern ryokan, with stunning views. Family friendly, with a small play area, toys and games you can take to your room. Staff speak great English and are very helpful. Great location- 5 min walk to the train station where you can take a gondola up to the cable cars or take the mountain train back down, 10 min (steep) walk to Gora park, 15 min walk to Open Air Museum, and 25 min walk to Yunnesan hot spring water park. There are a smattering of restaurants, a big Lawsons round the corner and some souvenir shops. We were in the Condominium block, bring ear plugs as the mountain train is right in front of the block, cute but noisy! Room includes hairdryer & straightners. Just outside our room was a hot/cold drink station. And you can choose from a beautiful range of yukata from reception (everyone wears them round the hotel!). The breakfast and dinner options were lovely but very repetitive, if we were staying any longer than 3 nights we would have started looking for other options outside the hotel. There were mostly Japanese dishes for both, so if you don’t eat seafood you’ll be quite limited. The quality and presentation was lovely but we did find it all quite cold. There is an option to order a dish to be cooked fresh on your table which was lovely and very theatrical! Dinner slots are allocated on arrival so be prepared to stick to their schedule. We didn’t use the onsen but heard good things from other parents who tried the private family onsen."

"When you step in it like all you sense are targeted. I loved the smell the most. It was lake sage is the best that I could compare it to. If you have the chance stay here and try to get the room with your private Onsen."

Susukinohara Ichinoyu

"An excellent small hotel, with the bonus of well-maintained and very welcome in-room onsen, as well as the relaxing and attractive public bath with an outdoor pool additional. Even in rainy weather, which we had, the access to these bathing facilities was a world of relief after a hectic week in Tokyo. The breakfasts provided were also very good. Vegetarians note -- inform the hotel of your preferences well before arrival and they can provide a suitable meal."
