"Our first stay in a traditional ryokan and one of the highlights of our Japan trip. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, and the peaceful atmosphere was remarkable — apart from breakfast and the drum performance, we barely saw another guest. It genuinely felt like stepping back in time.
We stayed as an LGBT couple and felt completely comfortable throughout our stay. Our room was huge, with traditional flooring and views of Mount Fuji, which we also enjoyed from the rooftop onsen.
The onsen experience was a highlight. As visitors from the UK it was completely new to us, but we embraced it and loved it. The traditional meal was also a wonderful experience; my partner does not eat fish and the hotel accommodated this after we contacted them in advance. The menu is fixed, so picky eaters may wish to bring snacks. You dine in a private dining room.
Beautiful gardens, exceptional hospitality and a unique sense of calm made this an unforgettable stay"
