  • The Stranahan House was built in 1901 by Frank Stranahan, credited as Fort Lauderdale’s founding father, and his wife Ivy Cromartie Stranahan, the area’s first school teacher. The location was the best part. The room itself was more rundown than the pictures appeared. The bed was caving in the middle, very uncomfortable. The hot water took 15 minutes to get going which was a chore.
