"this is a remodeled property, very spacious for New York City. Family and business friendly. The 12th floor lounge is very practical for those needing to work occasionally while on vacation. Plenty of space and tables. TV screens for watching games or other in group, or meetings. Cute nice gym on the same floor. Will definitely return for future New York trips."

Club Quarters Hotel Grand Central, New York

Club Quarters Hotel Grand Central, New York

8/10 Good
"Quirky but decent hotel. The rooms are starting to look a little dated but still have some life left. The table that is bolted to the floor is not the greatest idea in Manhattan, where space is at a premium. Especially given the fact that the rooftop lounge is large and a lot more comfortable. The common areas are in very good shape. My first room was on a higher floor. This was good, until I realized the elevator was chronically making squeaking noises. Thankfully I was able to move to a lower floor and the problem got solved. Staff was definitely attentive."

Freehand New York

Freehand New York

8/10 Good
"If you are seeing a show at the Gramercy Theater, this hotel is directly across the street. The public areas of the Freehand are fantastic--great lobby and 2nd floor lounge, excellent rooftop lounge, and several on-site restaurants. The rooms are fine--clean, comfortable beds, enough space to move around. The hallways look like they're right out of Stephen King's Shining, though--dark with flickering fluorescent lights and carpet that has been around for a few decades. It's pretty jarring to go from the light, modern lobby to the heart of the building."

"Great location and good size rooms for a small boutique hotel! The best part was the staff. The front desk staff and bellmen taking care of our luggage were all extremely helpful and friendly. I want to do a special call out to Judy who so helpful and friendly at the front desk. She answered all our questions and helped with a billing issue. I also heard her be so friendly and helpful to other guests as I waited in line. You don't often find such friendly service anymore at most hotels. We will be coming back for sure!"
