「We used the Hare & hounds as a stopover on our way home but will give serious consideration to returning to explore the Lakes from there」

「The hotel is well placed to explore the area. The room was comfortable, clean and great for the 2 nights we stayed. The bar was cosy with the wood burner on, breakfast set you up for the day and dinner was tasty and substantial 😁 The staff were friendly and helpful; we would stay again」

「Exceptional stay! Beautiful breakfast, great location and very clean! Would highly recommend.」

「Lovely room. We booked the dog friendly room and we had dog bowls, and a doggy treat pack including toy, treats & poo bags. Nice little touch! Great food as always, lovely full English breakfast. Friendly helpful staff. Would definitely recommend.」

「Seemed to have no house keeping services. Stayed for three nights and the room was never cleaned once, even after we requested it. Construction outside started at 8 am right in front of our room.」

「everything is good!」

「The reason I haven’t scored 5 is that Expedia sold us a room that had issues with noise / cooking smells as it’s above the kitchen and is noisey and smelly when the staff are cooking. We stayed in a room named Helvellyn and Expedia didn’t state any issues with any rooms. If we had booked direct with the queens head it details the room helvellyn as having issues with noise etc due to it’s proximity to the kitchen. I think Expedia have been misleading not detailing the facts about that particular...
