Friendly and polite staff from reception to bar/restaurant to housekeeping. Beautiful decor giving all public areas a sense of comfortable style and an upmarket but ´ at home ´ feeling.
Rooms were spacious enough and bathrooms clean and well maintained.
The only tiny niggle was the dinner menu which wasn’t hugely inspiring (mainly in the starter area) and also the pie which, although filling was absolutely delicious, was not encased in pastry but also the pastry topper was bit stodgy and not flaky puff pastry.
As I say a tiny thing but when coming up North from London you look forward to an excellent pie.
The other mains were excellent and all were piping hot.
Breakfast was also fine, nicely cooked full breakfast and lots of choice for cereals, yogurt and toast, although didn’t see any croissants, as was on the menu.
We visited as a large family group, overall a wonderful stay and all have said we would stay here again. Thanks Crooklands.
