"Clean hotel which is ideal for anyone fell walking or just walking down the Borrowdale valley, wonderful views out to Derwent water , gardens well maintained with a lovely outdoor area next to the river, hotel as squeeky floor boards but only due to the age of the building so can’t be helped, breakfast buffet well stocked with decent quality foods, just a couple of negatives, the extraction fan in our bathroom, room 26 was not working and in the downstairs men’s toilets a strong urine smell both of which could easily be improved. I would definitely stay again"

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had such a lovely stay at The Royal Oak in Rosthwaite. It’s a beautiful, quaint hotel with so much character, set in a gorgeous location. The staff were absolutely fab — so friendly and welcoming — and the food was fantastic. Everything about the hotel made it feel relaxed and homely, and we really enjoyed our stay. I’d definitely recommend The Royal Oak to anyone looking for a lovely Lake District break. We’ll absolutely be back! ❤️"

It was a shame that one of the curtains had broken hooks as it drew the eye but the view from our windows more than made up for it. The evening meals were delicious. Location was perfect for us being equidistant to Grasmere and Keswick. Maybe some sachets of decaf coffee?"
