Staff were really friendly and helpful. Place was clean and our room was spacious. Breakfast was simple and we were well catered for. We were able to park on the morning of check-in, so we could go for a wander and then check-in later. Hotel is an easy 15 minute walk from Ambleside and it's various amenities.

Iconic stay in the heart of the Lakes

A truly evocative stay, in the heart of the Lakes & so convenient to both amazing walks and Ambleside. Iconically old fashioned, but everything is to an amazing standard. Breakfast is all fresh & local. It might be a great side if they offered (pre-booked) packed lunches?

The country house is situated in the most idyllic place, surrounded by beautiful gardens, which you can relax in, and outstanding views of the surrounding fells. The property itself is to the highest standards with large immaculate bedrooms. Breakfast is delicious, with the finest ingredients and a varied menu, served by friendly, helpful staff. I would highly recommend and will definitely return.

Fabulous Lake District find

Fabulous location with lovely walks in many directions right from the doorstep. Nice room with great en-suite and lovely Bath House toiletries. Delicious breakfast with lots of choice and the hot selection was really well cooked. Friendly and efficient staff - would definitely recommend and stay again.
