"This hotel was a lovely place to stay for my 2 night trip - the staff were friendly and welcoming, the room was cleaned very well each day, and the restaurant served a great mix of flavourful food."

"I was just coming off a tour and had an extra night to spend in Arusha. Rather than spend the night in the tour hotel I decided to try Mc-Elly's for about 4x LESS the price. The area in the daytime is a bit chaotic (industrial area) but it's the real Africa not what I saw in the tour hotel. As soon as the sun goes down it was very quiet. Loved sitting out on my balcony. Breakfast was great, lots of variety and the manager of the hotel even greeted me asking me how I found everything. Nice...

"I stayed here recently for business, and found the hotel to be a slightly dated design. Hotel staff and porters were exceedingly helpful, but service was very slow in the dining hall (probably as we were a big group). The hotel very kindly opened the breakfast hall early one morning when we were going on a safari day, and we were pleased to see a full range of breakfast was available then. Sadly after getting back from the safari there was no hot water. No wifi availble in the rooms, and the...

"We stayed at Joshmal Hotel for one night, and had a good experience. The room was nice and clean, and the staff was friendly. We were leaving pretty early the following morning, so they arranged for breakfast to start a little earlier than usual, so we got to eat before we left."

"The place is what you pay for I guess. You'd think £60 would go farther in Tanzania but apparently not, Arusha is expensive.
Basically, rooms are like prison cells, bathrooms terrible, and it took a few tries to find a room with working aircon. Staff were friendly enough if a little inefficient.
What is with having to ask for toilet paper all the time - just have some in the room, its a basic necessity!!!"

Sanna Boutique Hotel
6/10 Okay
"The hotel is in the heart of Arusha city center. Great location and walking distances to cafe shops and restaurants.
Breakfast is very limited, but they can do better than what they offer. Arusha has plenty of fresh food coming from the farms everyday I don’t see why they shouldn’t take advantage of that.
The only one thing that I thought was outrageous was room service. They charge $12 for room service and if you bring any food in your room from outside they charge $10 cleaning charges. For this is not acceptable if you are playing $140-$150 per night. "

Airport Planet Lodge at Kilimanjaro Airport
8/10 Good
"This hotel is in a great location if you are going to or coming from the international airport. The staff speak English but there understanding is limited. We booked a two nice stay and told them we needed a 4 am shuttle on morning #2 (Tuesday). We were very tired and went to bed only to be awoken at 4am wondering why weren't were leaving. THIS WAS AFTER 1 NIGHT! WHY WOULD WE BOOK TWO NIGHTS AND LEAVE AFTER 1???????? Otherwise the place is very nice and the food is great. The gym is not much, the electric equipment (treadmill, elipical, etc) all had the power cords cut off. "

Four Points By Sheraton Arusha, The Arusha Hotel
6/10 Okay
"rooms are good; internet was bad; food is below average; staff are nice but lack passion, contrast to most of the tourist hotels. it's a decent hotel to stay for work (but internet was a problem), don't eat there, there are many better places. not worth the price. "

Gran Melia Arusha
10/10 Excellent
"One of the best hotels in Tanzania, suites are generous in space and breakfast is excellent"

Rivertrees Country Inn
10/10 Excellent
"This was our meeting place for a night (although we spent several night before) prior to a Nat Geo Great Migration Safari in Tanzania. The staff were friendly, helpful and all around best. The could not do enough for us. It was a delightful stay. "

Tulia Boutique Hotel and Spa
10/10 Excellent
"Clean and modern hotel. Beautiful facilities. Friendly and accommodating staff that is super helpful. Tasty restaurant with amazing breakfast. Aesthetic pool. Highly recommended."

Kibo Palace Hotel Arusha
6/10 Okay
"Internet is inefficient. OK for leisure travelers but tough on business use. Frequent municipal power failures requires better backup generators, and internet required constant re-entering of password. A better automatic reconnect feature is required"

Fun Retreat Resort, Hotel and Ayurveda Spa
8/10 Good
"Great staff. I would not class this as a five star hotel. It is situated outside the city and I was the only guest. Electric kept going off but the staff were really kind. The spa was good but in Aruba you must have a doctor for the spa and the doctor at this spa was missing. Many services were not available because he was not there. "

Kiboko Lodge
10/10 Excellent
"The location of this lodge is amazing, offering a serene setting to enjoy the wildlife of Tanzania when not on safari. The lodge sits on the edge of a marsh and gave us multiple terrace options (including a private one attached to our room) to do some bird watching. While there , we saw the African fish eagle and Black-and-white cascade hornbill, songbirds too many to count, along with some visiting Vervet monkeys. The staff were among the most attentive and friendly that we have experienced and our room (the Simba house) was everything we could hope for. We highly recommend it if you’re looking for a quieter place to relax. "
