「Great place to stay, beautiful canal view from the room! Really good location and walkable to the city centre. We would have liked more gluten free / allergy friendly options for the breakfast 」
「The Hotel is close to the tram station and the staff are very helpful and nice. As we visited Amsterdam on Christmas Day, they sent us a list of restaurants in advance for our information. Indeed, the recommended restaurants are good.」
「Banks Mansion is AMAZING. We loved atmosphere and the vibe. Many guests would hangout in the lobby to relax and enjoy a drink. It was safe, clean, and nice! 」
「Hotel is in a nice area and very convenient. But the room has a strange smell. I have a feeling it’s not very clean. No reception, only some staffs work in the restaurant also help you if you have some questions. Not what I expected as a hotel」
「Lovely and caring staffs, good services, nice location, museums, good restaurants and bus / tram stops are nearby!
Hotel room is clean and stylish. I chose the room with balcony feel like at home!!!
Hotel also provide a welcome drink, free coffee & tea, and wifi is good too.」
「Receptionist were professional but not very warm, being polite but cold.
The location was great, easy to walk to museums, shops, restaurants! The hotel is also very cosy and comfortable!」
"Not a Hotel — More Like a Hostel Charging Hotel Prices
This place is marketed as a hotel, but in reality, it feels more like a hostel — just with hotel-level pricing. You're essentially paying for the location, as it's close to the museum quarter, which is admittedly convenient.
Here are the key issues:
No real reception – There's no front desk. Instead, a staff member at the café next door acts as "reception" from 9 AM to 6 PM.
Poor accessibility – There’s no proper entrance; you have to climb stairs, and taxis can’t stop right outside the property.
Extremely small rooms – The room is tiny, even by Japanese standards. You can't fully open a suitcase on the floor.
No real windows – The only windows face the staircase and a very slow elevator. You can hear everyone passing by clearly.
Inconvenient power setup – Turning off the room lights also cuts power to the outlets, so you can't charge your phone unless you leave the lights on (except in the bathroom).
Basic bedding – Standard hostel-quality linens and pillows (cushions actually).
On the plus side, the room was clean and odor-free — but that should be the bare minimum for any hotel.
Overall, if you’re expecting hotel quality, you’ll likely be disappointed. You're paying for the location, not the experience."
